Capturing your senior portraits is a celebration of this special time in your life! This moment reflects who you are and what you have accomplished. Your senior photos should be an exciting and memorable experience! Here are a few tips to help you to prepare!

Choose the Right Session Length for you!

Most of my senior clients choose the 50 minute session. This is the perfect length for 2-3 outfits and allows for time to explore the location we selected and for a variety of poses! I do offer a longer session which is 90 minutes which allows for a location change if requested as well additional outfits if you wish!

Planning Your Outfits

Your outfits for your session play a big role in how you feel and look during the session. Choose clothes that reflect your style and personality along with styles and colors that flatter you.

Aim for at least three different outfits and more if your session length allows.

  • A casual look, something you feel great in and showcases your style.

  • A more formal choice whether a dress, or dress pants and a nice shirt

  • Something that showcases a hobby, extracurricular or talent!

Incorporating props can personalize your photos and tell a story about who you are. Choose items that reflect your passions, like a musical instrument, sports gear or jersey, dance outfits

A few things to consider when selecting your clothing are solid neutral colors tend to photograph really well and allow the subject to stand out. Be sure to bring clothing ironed and on hangers if possible! If you would like opinions on outfits you are welcome to send me your selections before hand or to bring extra options. I am always happy to provide feedback on your choices!

Don't forget accessories and to coordinate them with your different looks!

Consider Your Location

The setting can greatly affect the overall look of your photos. When beginning to set up your appointment, I will ask what type of location you are interested (ex, field, urban, lake, classic...) and then I will provide different locations and descriptions of them for you to select from. While I have locations that I love to use for senior photos, if you have a special location that you would like I am happy to accomidate that request!

Bring a Parent or Friend

Having a parent or friend with you can create a more comfortable environment during the shoot. They can help with outfit changes, carry props, or simply be there to cheer you on and share in the fun experience. This support can help ease nerves and allow you to focus on enjoying the moment and help to make a fun memory out of the experience!

Have Fun and Be Yourself

Above all, enjoy the process. Your senior photo session should be a joyful experience that celebrates who you are. Don't get caught up in worrying about posing or being in front of the camera! I will guide you with posing and expressions and help you to feel confident and at ease!!

Following your session:

A day or two following the session, I will post social media previews if you would like and within 14 days I will deliver your gallery of edited images. Through the gallery you can download your images and order prints and products.

Once you have made your final selection for school, I will edit your image to meet your schools requirements and send it to your yearbook advisor.
